Using a V60 Filter Coffee Dripper is the perfect low-cost way to start enjoying fresh specialty coffee at home without having to invest in an expensive espresso machine. It's easy! We'll show you how...
What you will need
- V60 Filter Coffee Dripper
- 1x V60 Filter Paper
- 15g of ground coffee (about 2 tbsp)
- A kettle
- Kitchen scales
- Your favourite cup
Method
1. Pop the kettle on.
2. Place the V60 Dripper on top of your favourite cup.
3. Fold the filter paper along the seam to create a cone and place into the dripper.
4. Rinse filter paper with some hot water. This will improve your brew and preheat the cup. Once it's rinsed, discard the water from the cup.
5. Put your ground coffee into the dripper.6. Place everything onto a set of kitchen scales and tare them.
7. Now we can start brewing! Start your stopwatch and pour 50g of water onto the grounds.
Tip: pour in a circular motion to wet all the coffee grounds.
8. Wait 30 seconds, this is called the bloom phase.
9. After the bloom phase, pour the remaining 200g of water, pausing for 10 seconds after every 50g.
10. When the scales hit 250g, put the kettle away!
11. Wait for the water to draw down completely. Once drained your brew is finished.
12. Discard paper and grounds.
13. Enjoy your fresh coffee!
Serving suggestion
Filter coffee is a great way to taste different types of beans to see which one you like the best. Our favourite way to drink filter coffee is black, to experience the full flavour of the coffee bean. Feel free to add your favourite milk and sweetener.
